Holiday Valley Resort · Ellicottville, NY
For over four decades, our certified ski patrol team has protected skiers, snowboarders, and resort guests across 300+ acres of terrain. Professional. Prepared. Present.
Who We Are
Holiday Valley Ski Patrol is a team of certified professionals dedicated to the safety and well-being of every visitor to our resort. Our patrol members undergo rigorous training in wilderness first response, avalanche safety, and emergency medical care.
We operate across the full terrain — from beginner slopes to expert runs — ensuring that help is always nearby, no matter where your day takes you. Our patrol hut is staffed around the clock during operating hours, and our mountain teams respond to incidents within minutes.
What We Do
Every aspect of guest safety on the mountain — from prevention to response — is handled by trained professionals who know this terrain intimately.
Immediate on-mountain medical care for injuries ranging from minor scrapes to critical trauma. Our WFR and EMT-certified patrol members stabilize patients before transport to local medical facilities.
Continuous assessment of snow conditions, visibility, and trail hazards. We close and reopen trails based on real-time weather, avalanche risk, and guest safety needs throughout the day.
Proactive avalanche mitigation on controlled slopes and backcountry-adjacent areas. Our team monitors snowpack stability and conducts preventive爆破 work to keep guest terrain safe.
Collaboration with Holiday Valley Ski School to ensure child safety protocols, designated learning zones, and age-appropriate terrain management for young skiers and snowboarders.
Full technical rescue capability for missing persons, avalanche burials, and off-trail incidents. Patrol members are trained in probe, shovel, and beacon recovery techniques.
Regular safety briefings, trail condition reports, and the iconic Ski Responsibility Code signage. We work to educate guests before they hit the slopes so they can make informed decisions.
Stay Safe on the Mountain
Every skier and snowboarder has a responsibility to understand the conditions, control their speed, and yield appropriately. Our patrol team is here to help — but your awareness is the first line of defense.
Our Team
Our patrol team is made up of experienced professionals — many of whom grew up on these very slopes. They bring deep local knowledge, advanced certifications, and a genuine commitment to keeping Holiday Valley safe.
